Along highway 79
southwest of Palestine is the small
community of Tucker, Texas. In 1882 the name
of the post office and the town was changed
to Tucker, after W. H. Tucker and the Tucker
family, who owned land and operated a
general store in the area.1 |
Tucker's schools
are now consolidated with Palestine
Westwood. |

Located just northeast of Tucker is the Wal
Mart Distribution facilities, pictured above
along FM 645.
Tucker was once adjacent to the steam
shipping on the the Trinity River.
Today as you travel through Tucker, you
might encounter a line of trucks leaving the
distribution center.
